BROOKLYN PREVIEW!

Hey all, Study Group Comic Books & Press Gang will be in NYC this weekend for the Brooklyn Comics and Graphics Fest on Saturday.

We're at table 8 downstairs, totally surrounded by talented friends: Right by Nobrow, between the Same Hat/Electric Ant crew of Ryan Sands & Jonny Negron and our buddy Ben Catmull and the ladies of Pizza Island. What a sweet spot! it looks something like this:

Anyhow, the obvious news is that we'll have the new Study Group Magazine #1 debuting there!

Additionally, I've got the very recently released GHOST ATTACK #4 mini comic:

PRESS CHECK, ONE TWO

 Things are going pretty fast, after all this time working and waiting on this magazine (we can get into its lineage and twists and turns in its creation some other time). 

anyhow, last week we got a digital proof of our baby. Milo and I went through it and made some notes and corrections and eventually gave the OK to our awesome local printers, Brown. 

So today we went down and did a press check as they printed up the covers and one of the signatures!

Press Maestro Pete graciously allowed us to climb all over the press while it was running these pages from Michael Deforge, Aidan Koch, and myself.

I took way more video than this simple excursion probably warranted, but give me some slack, it's our first big book!

EXCITING! To me, at least. I think your excitement might be greater when you see the book. 

To that end, we have two events coming up. There's the East Coast Debut at the Brooklyn Comics and Graphics Fest THIS WEEKEND!!!!!, and then for our west side homies we've got our Release Party and Press Gang Art Show at Floating World Comics in PDX on Weds the 7th!!!!

MATRIMONY

GUYS! I haven't posted in MONTHS but I have a good excuse!

I GOT MARRIED! (LOTS of pictures there)
also, went on a honeymoon, a very close friend died, and I've been putting together the new Studygroup... But this post is about me getting married. It's AWESOME. Life is pretty good. JUST FYI.

TWISTED SAVAGE DRAGON FUNNIES comes out this week!

Hey everyone! According to Diamond (the big comics distro), this book TWISTED SAVAGE DRAGON FUNNIES that I'm in is coming out on Weds 7/13/2011! That's this Weds! Oh snap! That's two days from now!!!

I'm really and truly proud of the six page story I've got in the book called "Screamin' Bones" (click that link for a preview). It might actually be my favorite short piece I've ever written. Not only that but there's a TON of super talented people in the book like Jim Rugg, Ulises Farinas, Ben Marra, Tom Scioli and many more!
I recently got a sneak peek at the book and it turned out really nice! It's slightly oversized, 8x12 inches, which is more like a golden age comic size, and it's full color. I know I'm biased but I'd say this anthology is worth picking up if you've got the dough and your friendly neighborhood comic shop ordered it.
