Octavia

OmO

another quickie brush pen character study from Secret voice. Yes, her leg is goofy/I ran out of paper, and YES the perspective on the arms is forced/wrong. that's ok. It's just a doodle!

Dr. Galapagos?!

Just to throw this out there, I am actually, slowly, every so slowly, working on Secret Voice 2, however it ends up coming out.
Dr. Galapagos panel w/partial inks Dr. Galapagos panel w/partial inks
These are two more or less inked panels from page 5 of "Dr. Galapagos" chapter two.. They'll eventually have greytones (which contain some of the details, such as his face bandage lines) added to them before getting printed. One thing that was kind of hanging me up for a while was the gap in production on the first and second issue and how that would affect the way the art looks*. I'm way better now at drawing and inking than I was then, of course- producing art on a regular basis and larger scale than just doing comics has assured that, but there's a lot of little things in the way I approach laying down ink, simplicity vs mark making, etc. etc... I eventually just decided that I'll just roll on with it doing things the way I want to now without trying to have the 1st and second chapters match up slavishly. I can't worry too hard about that. Another issue was just letting go of some of my issues with being really insanely picky and obsessing over certain details. It may not have actually shown in the 1st issue but I sweated a lot of details in the art, continuity-wise and with little things like making certain that lines closed off uniformly, through the whole book if they closed off in one panel, etc. I'm just letting loose a lot more here and hopefully it works out for the betterment of the work. If I don't let loose more I'm never going to finish these silly adventure comics!
*(as an aside, these panels were penciled about 2 years ago and inked this week, so we'll see what new penciled pages look like shortly)
